Aquatic Programs

The DeKalb Park District offers a 6-level swim lesson program focusing on building skills and confidence. Levels begin with an Introduction to Swimming to Refining Swim Strokes. We offer a modified version of our Learn-to-Swim programs for ages 4+ and Levels 1 - 6. Come learn to swim with us!

We also offer seasonal aquatic programs for kids and teens, plus lifeguard certification courses.

Cancelations could occur due to severe weather or facility conditions. If needed, a make-up day will be the week after your lesson session. Follow our RainOut Line for updates!

Signing up for programs early helps prevent cancellations by demonstrating sufficient interest and ensuring that programs reach their minimum participant requirements. Recruit friends, family, and neighbors to sign up for programs with you or help get the word out in our community! 

Open Lap Swim 

All Ages

Get in your swim workout as your schedule allows with a Lap Swim Card. The card costs $30 and is good for 10 Huntley Middle School Pool visits during seasonal designated lap swim hours on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. *Open Lap Swim is available only during Private Swim Lesson session dates and times.

Group Swim Lessons

Ages 4-15 • Mondays & Wednesdays; Saturdays

Lessons follow a research-based curriculum that allows students to progress through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. Classes are divided into groups based on ability and completion of prerequisites. 

*No classes Mondays/Wednesdays 1/20, 2/17, 3/24 & 3/26 or Saturdays 3/22 & 4/19

Adult Group Swim Lessons

Ages 16+ • Saturdays

Calling all adults who have never learned how to swim or haven't swam in years! If you would like a refresher or learn how to swim, then this class is for you. Our adult swim lessons focus on basic strokes and safety around water. So whether you plan on swimming at the pool or going out on the boat, this class is for you.

*No classes on Saturdays, 3/22 & 4/19

Private Swim Lessons

All Ages • Mondays & Wednesdays; Saturdays

One-on-one instruction is provided for children and adults. Semi-private lessons are offered for students at the same skill level that wish to share the instructor. Students may work on the skills from the group lessons or other specific skills as desired.

Dreaming of Summer

Ages 1+  •  Saturday  •  Huntley Middle School Pool

Are the winter blues setting in, and you find yourself missing summer? Being able to jump into the refreshing water and playing with your friends are almost distant memories. But you're in luck! Our Dreaming of Summer event brings the activities from Hopkins to Huntley Pool. You'll be able to participate in the Biggest Splash and Best Cannonball contests, inner tube races, swimming against the lifeguards, and more summer-type fun brought indoors. Pre-registration is required. Children 10 years and younger must be accompanied by a registered adult 18+.

Boy Scout Swimming Merit Badge

Ages 5+  •  Wednesdays  •  Huntley Middle School Pool

Calling all Boy Scout troops! Are you in need of the swimming or lifesaving merit badges? Do you need to have a swim test done prior to summer events or do you just need to work on your swimming endurance? Here is an opportunity for you!

Lifeguard Certification Class 

Ages 15+  •  Sports & Rec Center, Conference Room & Huntley Middle School Pool

This blended learning, American Red Cross-certified lifeguard class includes Basic Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid training. All certifications are valid for two years. Please note that this blended learning class combines in-class sessions with online learning. Plan an additional 8-10 hours outside meeting times to complete the online class sessions. The certification fee is for all three dates.
