2026 Halloween House Decorating Contest

Calling all ghouls and ghosts, witches and warlocks – we want to see your most festive and frightening house decorations in our 7th annual DeKalb Halloween House Decorating Contest!
We will be awarding prizes for the Best Overall Theme, Best Special Effects, Scariest, and People’s Choice. All displays will be judged by staff on October 21, between 4:00 and 10:00 pm.
Please choose either a daylight or night display option. Residents do not need to be present for judging. This contest is for DeKalb residents only. Addresses of all entries will be published in local media unless specified otherwise at the time of registration.
Winners for all awards, except People’s Choice will be published on October 22. All displays will also be judged online through the District Facebook page for a People’s Choice Award, October 22 – October 28. The image with the most “likes” by 9:00 pm on October 28 wins! The People’s Choice winner will be officially announced on October 29. Fee: $5 per house. Registration Deadline: October 20 (or until full)
