Golf 'Fore' A Good Cause

Fri June 10, 2022

DeKalb, IL- The DeKalb Park District is calling upon the community to be a part of the 16th annual fundraising event, Golf Fore the Kids Scholarship Golf Outing, taking place on Friday, June 24 at River Heights Golf Course, located at 1020 Sharon Drive. Check-in is at 10:00 am, with a shotgun start at 11:00 am. There are some NEW additions this year with a pig roast dinner and live music by local Southern Rock band, Shooter, starting at 5:00 pm.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Scholarship Assistance Program, which helps provide DeKalb residents access to recreational opportunities that would otherwise be unable to take part in due to financial constraints. The funds go towards both park district programs and access to facilities. Each year the District provides thousands of dollars for youth in DeKalb to participate in recreation programs like youth golf academy, pool passes, day camps, and athletics. This would not be possible without the generous support of the DeKalb community members and businesses.

Participants may sign up to play in the outing as an individual ($75), foursome ($280), or attend the NEW Individual Fundraiser Dinner Tickets ($20) with Early Bird rates valid through June 17. Prices increase starting June 18, with individual ($85), foursome ($290), and Individual Fundraiser Dinner Tickets ($30). The fee includes 18 holes of golf, cart, swag bag, t-shirt, boxed lunch, pig roast dinner, two drink tickets, music, and a great time! Attend the dinner for a chance to win one of our 'golden ticket' prize packages valued at more than $100 each. There will be many opportunities to win other raffle prizes or participate in our silent auction.

The event raised more than $9,000 in 2021. Staff would love to surpass those numbers and provide even more support to DeKalb residents in the coming year! Businesses are invited to show the community support and take part in the event by either becoming a sponsor, donating, or signing up a team. Any businesses or individuals may also make a charitable contribution in any amount to the Scholarship Assistance Program.

Thank you to our event sponsors Larson & Darby Group, Ancel Glink, BioLife Plasma Services, Sikich, Sundog, Northern Illinois Rehab Physical Therapy, and Speer Financial. In case of inclement weather, Friday, July 15 is the scheduled rain date for this event. For more information, to register for the event, sponsor, or make a charitable donation, visit
