The Sounds of Summer

DeKalb, IL- Grab your friends and family, bring your blankets and chairs, and don’t forget your dancing shoes for some amazing music at some of our most popular park sites this summer season.   

We’re kicking off the concert series with the NEW Rockin’ with Ronnie: Kids’ Concerts in the Park on select Tuesdays starting June 14 at the Hopkins Park Bandshell, located at 1403 Sycamore Road. 10:30 – 11:15 am, families can enjoy a performance by Miss Jamie’s Farm. Miss Jamie from the Farm takes young kids and their families on an imaginative musical adventure to her "farm," where they learn values like hard work, healthy eating, and being kind to animals and each other! Kids’ Concerts will also take place on July 19 with Istvan & His Imaginary Band and August 9 with Jeanie B! 

The DeKalb Municipal Band will begin its 168th season on Tuesday evenings starting on June 14 at 7:30 pm in Hopkins Park with featured soloist, Gavin Wilson, for their opening night. For the full concert schedule through August 23, visit the interactive calendar at 

Music at the Mansion is back for another exciting season on Wednesday evenings, June 22-August 3, set against the backdrop of the historic and beautiful Ellwood House Museum, located at 420 Linden Place. Pre-show entertainment on select dates will start at 6:30 pm, with the headliner show from 7:00-8:30 pm. Beer, wine, soda, and water will be available on-site for purchase. 

June 22 – Wild Daisy 

Wild Daisy is THE most energetic, dynamic female-fronted country band in the Chicagoland area. The band plays current, upbeat country, with a few pop/rock songs thrown in. Wild Daisy established a reputation in Chicago for consistently delivering high-quality, family-friendly, crowd-interactive, entertaining shows, with musicianship and energy that cannot be matched. Pre-Show: Line Dancing  

June 29 – Johnny Russler & The Beach Bum Band 

Celebrating the beach, warm summer sun, and island fun, Johnny Russler & The Beach Bum Band are the ultimate party band. Playing plenty of Jimmy Buffett favorites, they also jam out to hits by Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Paul Simon, Dick Dale, Jerry Jeff Walker, and many others. Let your hair down, wiggle your toes in the sand and let Johnny Russler & The Beach Bum Band serenade you in the summer sunlight.

July 13 – The Wayouts 

The carefully curated Wayouts set list is made up exclusively of songs that everybody knows but aren't worn out by your average classic rock and oldies acts. Their combination of raw intensity, professional musicianship, and exuberant performance brings fresh life to classic songs, striking an equal balance between nostalgia and innovation, appealing equally to hipsters, grandparents, and soccer moms.

July 20 – Shout Out 

Shout Out is comprised of some of Chicago’s finest professional musicians. Shout Out outperforms a wide variety of music from the 60s through today’s top hits.  You will hear all of your favorite Top 40 radio hits from artists like Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Usher, and Maroon 5.  They are also well versed in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s.  Created by the national award-winning band Maggie Speaks, Shout Out will keep you dancing all night long.

July 27 – Dancing Queen 

Dancing Queen is the most accurate ABBA tribute band in the country. With thorough attention to detail, they’ve recreated an ABBA experience that won’t soon be forgotten. Fronted by two dynamic ladies with angelic voices, and backed by a group of world-class musicians, the music of the greatest pop band in history comes to life in a Las Vegas-type show that captivates audiences, both young and old.

August 3 – The Student Body

Chicago's HOTTEST and most entertaining cover band is ripped right out of your high school yearbook pages!  A fun and entertaining play on all the cliques that ruled your school, the Student Body plays all your favorite high-energy hits that will leave you reminiscing about all your High School conquests (acne and insecurities not included). Pre-show entertainment is a demonstration from Dimensions Dance Academy.
