DeKalb Park District 2027-2032 Comprehensive Master Now Available

The DeKalb Park District Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the 2027-2032 Comprehensive Master Plan at the June 18 Board Meeting. The plan will be used as a guide to implement action items over the next five to ten years. The plan was developed with input from the local community, the Board of Commissioners, and Park District staff. Implementation will begin with the District’s FY2027 budget, which begins on January 1, 2027.

The Planning Team included RVi Planning, Larson & Darby Group, Recreation Results, LLC, and aQuity Research and Insights Inc. The Planning Process was broken into four main phases (or chapters): Inventory & Analysis, Needs Assessment, Envision and Prioritize, and Action Plan. An additional supplementary document also provides a detailed inventory of the District’s facilities and parks. 
 
The Action Plan consists of five goals: Improve Indoor Facility Access, Maintain and Update Parks and Open Spaces, Improve and Expand District Programs and Special Events, Improve Park District Operations and Satisfaction, and Improve District-wide Recreation Access. The Action Plan Calendar consists of three main sections: a 6-year calendar that is organized by fiscal years and broken down into quarterly sections with detailed action items, a 10-year outlook that is broken down into fiscal years with an idea of when action items are expected to begin but maintains flexibility on a longer timeline, and beyond 10 years items that have been considered for future planning and implementation, but are currently beyond the District’s current resources.
