DeKalb Park District Nominating Petitions Available

The DeKalb Park District Board of Commissioners announces two board seat vacancies to be open in May 2027 for four-year terms. The Board of Commissioners consists of five members.

Current members include Tia Anderson, Dean Bourdages, David Castro, Michelle Foster, and Brian Tobin. David Castro and Brian Tobin have terms expiring in April 2026.  The Board of Commissioners meets regularly on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. and at other dates deemed necessary by the Board.

Qualifications and residency requirements for those interested include that you must be a registered voter and a resident of the DeKalb Park District for at least one year prior to the election.  Nominating petitions and additional documents are available at the DeKalb Park District Administration Office located at 1403 Sycamore Road during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
 
A minimum of 100 signatures of qualified voters residing within the DeKalb Park District boundaries are required for a candidate to file a petition.

Petitions must be filed in the same office between Monday, November 16, 2026 and Monday, November 23, 2026 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Petitions will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on the last day of filing.  In addition to the filing of the petitions, prospective candidates must complete, sign, and have notarized a statement of candidacy, statement of economic interest, and a loyalty oath (optional).
