Golf 'fore' the kids at the annual fundraiser golf outing!

Thu May 11, 2023

DeKalb, IL- The DeKalb Park District calls upon the community to participate in the 17th annual fundraising event, Golf Fore the Kids Scholarship Golf Outing, on Friday, June 9, at River Heights Golf Course, located at 1020 Sharon Drive. Check-in is at 10:00 am, with a shotgun start at 11:00 am. The fundraiser dinner is available starting at 4:30 pm.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Scholarship Assistance Program, which helps provide DeKalb residents access to recreational opportunities that they would otherwise be unable to participate in due to financial constraints. The funds go towards both park district programs and access to facilities. Each year the District provides thousands of dollars for youth in DeKalb to participate in recreation programs like pool passes, summer camps, athletic leagues, open gym, and more. The program would not be possible without the generous support of the DeKalb community members and businesses.

Participants may sign up to play in the outing for an individual fee ($75), a foursome ($280), or attend the Individual Fundraiser Dinner ($20) with Early Bird rates valid through May 26. Prices increase starting May 27, with the individual fee ($90), a foursome ($300), and Individual Fundraiser Dinner ($30). The fee includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, a swag bag, a polo shirt, a hat, lunch, dinner, two drink tickets, music, and a great time! Attend the outing to participate in our golden ticket scavenger hunt on the course and at the Clubhouse for a chance to win golden prizes valued at more than $100! There will be many opportunities to play on-course games, win raffle prizes, or participate in our silent auction. NEW! In 2023, we will have a Bloody Mary Bar in the Clubhouse during the fundraiser outing!

"Our mission is to enhance DeKalb residents' quality of life, including access to recreational and wellness opportunities," stated Executive Director John Shea Jr. " Recreation is vital to our community's mental and physical health. Our Scholarship Assistance Program can make that possible for families and individuals struggling to make ends meet."

The event raised more than $11,000 in 2022. Staff would love to surpass those numbers and provide even more support to DeKalb residents in the coming year! Businesses are invited to show community support and participate in the event by becoming a sponsor, donating, or signing up a team. Any companies or individuals may also make a charitable contribution in any amount to the Scholarship Assistance Program.

In case of inclement weather, Friday, June 23, is the scheduled rain date for this event.
