Happy Campers Wanted!

DeKalb, IL- Summer break is a favorite time of the year for many children. It is a designated time to have fun, play, be outside, and spend the entire day doing something they love, and hopefully, making new friends! DeKalb Park District summer camps offer that experience. Children, ages 3-15, are invited to have an adventurous summer with some new and familiar camp offerings, all in a structured environment! Families can choose to sign up week to week or for the full 11 weeks for a discounted rate. 

NEW! Mini-Campers: A camp designed especially for younger campers (ages 3-5). Offered Monday through Friday, parents can choose a half-day (8:45 am - 12:45 pm, lunch included, or 12:45 - 5:00 pm, snack included) or full-day option (8:45 am – 5:00 pm). The camp will be held at the Sports and Recreation Center, located at 1765 South 4th Street. The half-day fee is $90 per week or $915 for the full 11 weeks and the full-day fee is $171 per week or $1750 for the full 11 weeks. 

Camp Discover: Enjoy one of DeKalb's favorite summer camps that delight campers (ages 6-12) each week with games, craft activities, field trips, theme days, regular swim days at Hopkins Pool, and more. Camp Discover is offered Monday – Friday, 8:45 am – 5:00 pm. Camp Discover will be held at Little John Elementary School, located at 1121 School Street. The fee is $171 per week or $1750 for the full 11 weeks.

NEW! Adventure Teen Camp: Explore the DeKalb area with a new teen camp designed especially for older campers (ages 13-15). Our teens will be a little more mobile than our other campers and explore DeKalb through small field trips, community outreach activities, and swimming opportunities. Adventure Teen Camp will meet at the Lions Park Shelter, located at 700 W. Taylor Street. The fee is $171 per week or $1750 for the full 11 weeks.

Camp Discover is bound to be an action-packed camp, complete with themed weeks, swim days, and a return to weekly field trips,” stated Recreation Supervisor, Chrissy Tluczek. “We are looking forward to meeting you and welcoming your child!”   

There will also be a five-day Summer Camp Spring Flash Sale, April 18 through April 22, for some extra summer savings for families. Camp starts May 31 and runs until August 12, with a parent meeting held virtually on Thursday, May 19 at 6:00 pm to share more details about summer camps. For an additional fee, parents will have a Before Camp (7:00-8:45 am) and an After Camp (5:00-6:00 pm) option at Little John Elementary School, located at 1121 School Street. All camps receive lunch and/or snacks provided by the Northern Illinois Food Banks.

NEW! The DeKalb Park District is also offering week-long specialty summer camps throughout the summer, Monday through Friday, 1:00-5:00 pm. All Sorts of Sports (June 6-10); DeKalb Explorers (July 11-15); Intro to Cheerleading (July 18-22); or Swing and Swim (July 25-29). 

Children of all abilities are invited to have a fun and rewarding summer experience. Please notify the program supervisor if inclusion services are needed. Inclusion services may include, when necessary, staff training program modifications, adaptations, modified equipment, program observations, and companion services. If you are looking for a camp specifically designed for individuals with special needs, consider Camp Maple Leaf through Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association.
